For many years I painted portraits in oils (3rd Prize in the BP Portrait Awards 1997) but coming to live in Tetbury has re-ignited my interest in painting horses, a theme I originally started during my degree course in Fine Art at the Central School of Art and Design (1979)I am now working in acrylics as they are quick-drying and very versatile and I intend to experiment more with the freedom of marks and textures possible in this medium.
The challenge to me is to capture figures in action and in relation to their environment, making sure the whole composition works on an abstract level without losing the realism.
