Welcome to our website

The Society was formed in 1976 by Roy Baker, esteemed Tetbury citizen and one time Mayor of the town. Its object is to promote the appreciation and practice of the Visual Arts. Roy was our president for many years; our current president is HRH The Prince of Wales.

Members

Members come from Tetbury and the surrounding villages and towns, and range from professional artists to self-taught improvers and beginners.  We come together to share expertise in a friendly and helpful manner using various media, styles and techniques.

Contact us to join, or just come along to a meeting.

Exhibitions

We now hold three major exhibitions a year in the splendid 17th century Market House in the centre of Tetbury, the town's focal point. Exhibitions are held on the May Day Bank Holiday, the August Bank Holiday and since 2010 in October or November. See Programme for dates and Exhibitions for submission details.

Our programme of meetings

We meet at St Michael's Hall, Silver Street, Tetbury on the first Wednesday in the month from 7.45 to 9.30 pm. For more details of the venue and a map see Information.

Our year starts in February with an AGM and social. Our planned activities can be found on the Programme page. Trips and outings are organised throughout the year, so please check the Notice Board for additional/late items.

2010 saw the launch of the annual Roy Baker Memorial Lecture. The speaker in 2011 was the portrait painter Nicky Philipps who was commissioned by the National Portrait Gallery to paint a joint portrait of TRH Princes William and Harry. This event was held in the Orchard Room at Highgrove House in March. Details of future lectures will be posted on the What We Do page.
